Mr. Gene Shelby Gordon passed away in his Norfolk home Sept. 6, 2012. Gene was a 30 year Navy Veteran Senior Chief Yeoman. The 84 year old Tennessee gentleman is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Doris; their daughter Andrea McCall and husband Stephen McCall; sons Michael Eugene Gordon and Chris Shelby Gordon. He is also survived by his brother, James “Jimmy” Gordon and his sister Bettye Rogers Stavrakos; grandchildren Aaron, Amy and Elaine McCall and great grandchildren Keagan, Finn and Mayzie McCall. A funeral service will be held at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach. Public viewing of Gene will be Thursday Sept. 13, 2012 between 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. It will be followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the same building. Actual burial will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Full military Honor guard for Senior Chief Petty Officer Gordon will commence at 1:30 p.m. Those who wish to celebrate Gene’s Life are welcome to a reception at the McCall residence 2473 Bayview Ave., Va. Beach, Virginia to remember his life, joys and accomplishments after his time in the Service, like his extraordinary musical talent.
