VANSCOY, Garnet Olive O’Grady, 89, a resident of Elm Grove, WV, for over 55 years, died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Bishop H. Joseph Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling. Garnet was born March 4, 1913, in Neffs, Ohio, a daughter of the late Earl M. and Hazel Kidd O’Grady. She was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens of Wheeling; was a member of the C.C. Camp of St. Clairsville, Ohio; worked at the Elm Grove Terrace Shopping Plaza for many years; and was a member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church, Wheeling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl M. Vanscoy in 1990; ; two brothers, Howard and James O’Grady; a sister, Betty Hunter; a step-sister, Beverly Bymes; a granddaughter, Valerie Cartmill; and a grandson, David M. Fleming. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Tomlinson and her husband, Ralph, of Mozart, and Katherine Fleming of Bellaire; four grandchildren, Toyann Neider, Jim Fleming, John Fleming and Mark Cartmill; five great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m Tuesday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling.
