Fred Edward Murray, 81, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2015. A Newport News native, he was born on March 23, 1934 and was employed as a marine tugboat captain for C&O Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Small.
Mr. Murray is survived by his loving wife, Lou; son, Keith and his wife, Christy; three grandsons, Jason, Dylan and Tyler; his sister, Barbara and sister-in-law, Nancy. He will be missed by many family and friends. The many loves of his life were his wife, children, grandchildren and golf.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 18, 2015 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 7415 River Road, Newport News. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
