Frank J. Rossi
Age 79
Frank J. Rossi, 79, of Fifth Street, Wellsville died at East Liverpool City Hospital on Monday, March 5, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on August 7, 1921, a son of the late Pasquale Rossi and Alfonsina Altieri Rossi.
Mr. Rossi was a lifelong area resident, having owned and operated Patsy Rossi Tailor Shop in East Liverpool from 1957 to 1972, then employed at Robert’s Men Shop, also in East Liverpool, working as Assistant Manager then as Manager from 1972 to 1983. He graduated from St Aloysius Grade School in East Liverpool and then in 1939, Mr. Rossi graduated from East Liverpool High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II as a
Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of the Wellsville Historical Society, a charter member of the VFW #5647 in Wellsville, the DAV of Wellsville, the Wellsville Sons of Italy, Past Exalted Ruler of the Wellsville Elk’s Lodge #1040, Masonic Lodge #681, Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville and Eastern Star #417. Mr. Rossi also served as a volunteer with the Cherokee District, Boy Scouts of America as District O & E Chairman and as Disrtict Chairman. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellsville.
Mr. Rossi leaves his wife of 53 years, Bettina ”Bess” Vukelich Rossi at home. He is also survived by daughters, Pava ”Paula” Sims of Huston, TX and Melanie Casey of Pittsburgh, PA. and two ”special” sons; Jeff Boyd of East Liverpool, OH and George Anderson of Phildelphia, PA and a ”special” daughter, Janice Croxall Anderson of East Liverpool, OH; grandsons, J. Matthew Casey of Capetown, South Africa, Michael Rossi Casey of Pittsburgh, PA and Collin-Peter Casey of Eugene, OR; granddaughters, Lex Delposen Cruz of Dallas, TX and Julie Delposen Ferlaino of Wellsville, OH; great-granddaughters, Grayson and Katherine Ferlaino of Wellsville, OH; brother, Pat Rossi of Orange, CA; sisters, Clemintine Creaturo of Santa Barbara, CA, Louise Betz of Wellsville, OH, Shirley Keating of Massillon, OH and Patricia Rossi of East Liverpool, OH; step-brother Joe Churchirello of Fresno, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, March 9, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Penrod of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery where the Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Wellsville on Thursday, March 8, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. There will be Elk Services on Thursday at 7:00 and Masonic Services at 7:30 PM.
