TRABERT, Francis J., 85, of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Peterson Rehabilitation and Geriatric Center, Wheeling. He was born Oct. 13, 1917 in Wheeling, son of the late Henry and Ethel Dixon Trabert. He was retired from the Wheeling Fire Dept. after 31 years of service; a World War II U.S. Army veteran of the 36th Division Infantry Texas Marshals servicing in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany; a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling; and a member of the Kain Club Wheeling, the A.A.R.P. No. 2481 and the Center Wheeling Seniors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Abraham. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dolores L. Lewandowski; a son, Mike J. Trabert and his wife, Diana, of Wheeling; four grandchildren, Michael J. Trabert of Wheeling, Mark J. Trabert of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Matt J. Trabert and Marty J. Trabert, both of Wheeling; three great-grandchildren, Kirstie and Kristopher Trabert, both of Charleston, WV, and Alex Nolan of Benwood, WV; and several nephews, nieces, cousins and great-nephews and great nieces. Friends will be received from 7-9 pm Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling where vigil services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Condron as celebrant. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling. Memorial contibutions may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2115 Market Street, Wheeling, WV 26003

Please accept our sincere sympathy in the loss of Francis and know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. a friend of Susie Foose and Dave was a lieutenant on the Fire Department.

Just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear about you dad. I really liked your mom and dad. I remember your dad coming to the school yard smoking his pipe. I thought you parents were really nice people.

So sorry I didn’t make it to the funeral home.
