Grandma left much wisdom and advice behind. Her courageous and determined spirit will not be forgotten. Then there are the little things I won’t forget. Like as a child walking to McDonalds in downtown Waukegan. It was a treat to share a cup of coffee with Grandma. She got the coffee and I got the creamer. The best part of that memory was visiting her in Virginia years later and watching her smile from across the table as I picked up a creamer. Thanks for the memories Grandma.

I grew up with grandma only 3-4 blocks from our house. In the past few days I was attempting to prep my five yr old daughter and two yr old son for the large group of relatives and friends that they may not remember coming to town. My five yr old asked me why we had to say goodbye to great grandma and I explained to her that great grandma lives in heaven with God now. She is going to live with her husband and kids that are already awaiting her. The look on her face, the excitement, that she had when she heard that her great grandma gets to live in heaven it brought tears to my eyes, tears of happiness, because grandma is finally home. So grandma, I love you, I miss you and rest in peace.

My memories of Grandma are many. My favorite; she was a fantastic seamstress. I always remember one particular halloween she made me the best angel costume complete w/ wings & halo. I remember going door to door for my candy & receiving endless compliments on my costume & of course the question of, where did you get your costume? “My grandma made it” was my reply. People were in awe. She loved to see the look on our faces when she presented something new she had sewn. Grandma, you will be greatly missed. I love you!!!!!

Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one is gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart – for as long as there is memory, they’ll live within our hearts. We were very sorry to hear about Aunt Francie. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Bonnie Amlin
