Frances Rejonis Battista, 96, of Benwood, WV, died Monday, November 25, 2013 in Shadyside Care Center.
She was born September 22, 1917 in Morgan, PA, a daughter of the late George and Frances Rejonis.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, Italian Mothers Club and the Benwood American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #46.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mario “Mark” Battista and one sister, Anna Steele.
Surviving are her two sons, Richard “Dick” Battista Rose of Benwood and Michael Battista Jeanette of Ortonville, MI; three grandchildren, Denise Battista of Imperial, PA, Michael Battista of Wheeling, WV and Amanda Wallace Josh of Tucker, GA; loving and caring nieces, Shirley Esposito, Nancy Tedeschi and Sarah Horne; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Ave., McMechen, WV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, with Rev. Bekeh Utietiang as celebrant.
Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Catholic Church, Benwood.

Michael and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when we came to visit you with my mom and dad, we had some good times. I brought my mom down to visit a couple times in the last couple years and your mom was always the nicest person and made us feel so welcome. You are in our prayers. Adele

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your mother. I remember meeting her all those years ago and she was a lovely person. I’m sure her life was blessed with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
