Age 80
Evelyn M. Wilkes 80, formerly Danbury Avenue, Wellsville, Ohio and Cincinnati Avenue, East Liverpool, Ohio, died in Greenville, Tennessee, at the home of her daughters, on Monday, August 27, 2001 following a brief illness.
She was born in Wellsville, Ohio on January 30, 1921and was the daughter of the late Jesse Hawk and Nettie Hoschar Hawk. Mrs. Wilkes lived in East Liverpool for 25 years, before moving to Greenville, Tennessee 4 months ago.
She retired in 1982 from the Sterling China Company, where she had worked as a finisher for 29 years.
Her husband, Henry C. Wilkes, whom she married January 25, 1938, died May 8, 1971. She is survived by 3 sons: John A. Wilkes of Calcutta, Ohio, Arthur Ace Wilkes of Orlando Florida and James R. Wilkes of Calcutta, Ohio: a step-son, Henry Charles Wilkes of Rogers, Ohio: a daughter, Mrs. Sonja L. Stewart of Greenville, Tennessee: a brother, Dean Hawk of Wellsville, Ohio: a sister, Mrs. Elsie Wright of Lisbon, Ohio: 15 Grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, August 31, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Huskey of the First Assembly of God in Calcutta, officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in Wellsville today, August 30, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8.
