Ernest Hanlon
Age 83

Ernest Hanlon of Foulks Drive, East Liverpool, Ohio died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in New Matamoras, Ohio on October 9, 1919, the son of the late Sanford W. and Sarah Hanlon.

Living most of his life in the area, Mr. Hanlon worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union. He was a 32 degree mason F & AM, belonged to the East Liverpool Association of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons and Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Steubenville, Ohio. He also was an avid bowler.

His wife, Virginia P. Badgley Hanlon, whom he had been married to for 58 years, died October 1, 2000.

He is survived by two step-sons, John C. Merical and his wife Jackie of Merritt Island, Florida and Paul V. Merical and his wife, Barbara of Vandalia, Ohio; 4 step-grandchilden, Steven Hanlon Merical and his wife Anne of Murrysville, PA, Terry Lynn Sonnenberg and her husband, Don of Michigan, Randy Paul Merical of Ohio and Cy Merical of Georgia; 2 step-great-grandsons and 8 step-great-granddaughters; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 10:30 AM with Timothy Wells officiating.

Burial will follow in United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel on Friday, June 6, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
