I live in Camarillo, Calif. formerly Martins Ferry, Ohio. Was scanning the news and came across the name of Emil Jelacic in the obituaries. The name sounds familiar. Was he in the 20lst Infantry in the Aleutian Islands from 1941 to 1944? My husband, Leslie was with that outfit — he passed away here in 1991. We, girls, had a Club in Wheeling, W. Va. all of us had boy friends with the 20lst and I think there was a Theresa in the Club, and her boy friend was Emil Jelacic. There was a Tony McKeets from Shadyside that passed away recently also saw it in the Times-Leader on the Web and he was their barber. If this is the same Emil, want to send my condolences across the miles from here in Calif. Sincerely

My family and I were sitting behind Mr. Jelacic and his son in church on Sunday at St. John’s. I was shocked to hear the news. He did not appear ill. He always seemed like a very sweet man. He did not know my name but our family always sat close to him at church. May he rest in peace with the Lord. God Bless.
