Virginia Beach – Emanuel Meyer , 76, passed away on January 6, 2012 while at Virginia Beach General Hospital, to be with Hashem God. He is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Rose, they were married 54 years. Further survivors are his son; Lawrence Paul Meyer and his wife Vickie, son; Mitchell Alan Meyer and son; Bruce Jay Meyer and his wife Connie. Also a beloved brother; Dr. Richard Jonah Meyer and his wife Susan, of Seattle, Washington. Manny led a productive life after obtaining his bachelors degree in the field of History at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He was awarded a special history degree after ranking in the upper 25% of the country. He then received a Masters of Arts degree at Old Dominion University in History. He served in the U.S. Army after college. After his service in the Army, Manny joined the family business of Benjamin Berman Carpet , in New York City. While attending the University of Miami in Fla. He perused fencing, being the State of Fla. Fencing champion. Manny and his wife Rose were charter members of Congregation Beth Chaverim, in Virginia Beach, VA to which they still belong. Other pursuits were, owning men’s clothing and formal wear shops with his wife Rose in Perrine, Fla. While living in Miami FL, with their three sons. A brief service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Congregation Beth Chaverim at 12:00 noon with a graveside service to follow at Forest Lawn, in Norfolk. Shiva will follow at Congregation Beth Chaverim. Manny will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Association, or Cong. Beth Chaverim 3820 Stoneshore Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Altmeyer Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Manny I shared an office together at ODU while he worked there as an adjunct history instructor. He had some interesting stories to share and we enjoyed knowing and working with him. Your family is in my thoughts.
