WINTER, Elwood, 88 of Wheeling, died Friday, May 4, 2001, in the East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was retired from Hobbs Lumber. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church; the Cave Club and the Kain Club.
He was born January 12, 1913, the son of the late Paul and Annette Strobel Winter.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Danna Miller Winter.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Kurcera and her husband, Tom of Shadyside and Jacqueline McFarland and her husband, Jerry of Wheeling; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Beiswenger Chapel, 3828 Jacob St., South Wheeling, with vigil services being held at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Patrick Condron as celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
