Elton Arthur “Art” Johnston, 82, a longtime resident of Sayre, PA passed away on March 14, 2015 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Art was born in Rochester, NY on October 17, 1932 the son of the late Elton A. Johnston and Helen Buholtz Lussow.

Art was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and had received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Art loved watching basketball and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was also a longtime fan of the LPGA. He loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. His jokes and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Art is predeceased by his wife Barbara J. Johnston.

He is survived by his three sons Andy Pam Johnston of Virginia Beach, VA, Chris Trish Johnston of Lancaster, PA, and Greg Cara Johnston of Virginia Beach, VA; his siblings Sally Puckett of Austin, TX, Carl Johnston of Jackson, TN, and Jon Johnston of Austin, TX; grandchildren Jason, Aaron, Kaylin, Mike, Sam, Tyrel, Bryce, and Bailey; great grandchildren Lily, Evan, Camryn, Claire, Charlotte and Grace.

Friends and Family may call on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6-8:00pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. An additional viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 10am-noon with funeral services following at noon at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.

I will always remember uncle Art and his genuine smile and joyfulness, oh, and his fabulous kisses on the neck! Though he wasn’t really my uncle, he was a best friend to my uncle Billy therefore I grew up calling him “uncle.” Godspeed & rest in peace uncle Art!_üôèâòºï¸èLove, Trixie
