Elizabeth F. Sabbato
Age 91
Elizabeth F. Sabbato, 91 of Sunset Blvd. Wellsville, Ohio passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Sunday, October 27, 2008, after a brief illness.
She was born in Wellsville on February 3, 1917, a daughter of John and Louise DeRose Checkler. Living her entire life in Wellsville, she retired from the former Sabbato Brothers where she worked as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Sabbato was a graduate of Wellsville High School where she was Valedictorian for the class of 1935. She was also a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Her Husband, Rocco J. Sabbato, preceded her in death on March 9, 1989. They were married on June 19, 1937.
Survivors include, a son: Michael J. Sabbato and his wife, Jackie, of Guilford Lake; a daughter: Jean Ann Montgomery and her husband, Charles, of Wellsville; a brother: John Checkler of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jason, Michelle and Hillary Sabbato as well as Greg Sabbato and his wife, Michelle and one great grandson, Nicholas Sabbato.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at the Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Fr. Bernard Gaeta as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 PM today at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes.
Following Mass on Thursday family will gather for food and fellowship at the Sons of Italy in Wellsville.
