ELIZABETH ANN WILEY passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008.
Elizabeth was born December 17, 1938 in Powhatan Point, OH, the daughter of the late Arthur and Clara Luckett Wiley.
She graduated from Powhatan High School in 1957 with top honors. Elizabeth then attended Ohio State University on a scholarship for 2 years and received a Bachelor degree from Wheeling College in Wheeling. She believed that obtaining an education was on of the keys to a successful life. Elizabeth worked for many years at the Ormet Aluminum Plant in Hannibal, OH.
Having been raised in the Baptist tradition, Elizabeth felt that she was called upon to live her life as a Christian. Her deeply held religious beliefs were first ingrained in her by her mother, who labored unselfishly to care for 9 children after her husbands death at an early age.
Elizabeth subscribed to the Christian belief that we should respond to God’s call to actively use our time, talents and money in ministries and to perceive all human beings as brothers and sisters. When Elizabeth left home, her religious convictions stayed with her throughout her college years and professional life.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Cornelius and Robert Benjamin Wiley.
Elizabeth is survived by her siblings, Arthur Wiley and his wife Kim of Oklahoma City, OK, John Wiley and his wife Dorothy of Capital Heights, MD, Thelma Wiley-Bowles and her husband Destin of Chicago, IL, Christina Wiley-Randolph and her husband Alexander of Temple Hills, MD, Andrew Wiley, and Verla Wiley, both of Temple Hills and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 3 from 10:00am until time of services at 11:00am at the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH.
Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.

I remember Ms. Liz from church when I was growing up. She always had a kind word and full of good advice. I keep you all in my prayers.
I was saddened to read of the passing of your sister. Miss Liz was a very sweet lady and I admired her very much. There was never a time that if she saw me in public, wherever it may be,she would always give me a big hug and kiss. She would then say “How’s my little girl” which is my daughter,Marlette, whom she taught bible school at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Bellaire Oh.
My prayers are with you.
