Eleanor Litherland, 80, formerly of Garner Avenue, East Liverpool, died on Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the East Liverpool Convalescent Center #2 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tell City, Indiana on July 30, 1922, a daughter of the late Philip and Dorcie Keller Litherland.
Miss Litherland spent most of her life in this area, working for 40 years at the Sterling China company as a liner before her retirment in 1984. She was a graduate of Toronto High School, Class of 1940 and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool where she was active in the Rose of Sharon Class and Missionary Ladies. Miss Litherland was also a member of the Jolly 60’s and enjoyed traveling to Florida.
She is survived by her lifelong friend, Ruth Shallcross, with whom she shared her home; an aunt: Maybelle Hester of Wellsville, OH; a cousin: Opal Zulley of Tell City, Indiana; two nieces: Linda Metrovich of Calcutta, OH and Janet Pfiller of Wellsville, OH; one nephew: Fred Rockenhauser of Mesa, Arizona along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Gordon Hall of the church officiating.
Burial will follow at Morning View Cemetery in Irondale, OH.
The family will be present to recieve friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The family requests memorial donations to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
