Edwin William Maloney died at the East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool, Ohio, on July 5, 2002. He was born in East Liverpool on December 10, 1905. He spent his life promoting East Liverpool, and with an exception of two years, he lived here for his entire life. As a youngster he began working for a grocery store, Fisher’s, located on West Eighth Street. While still a teenager he purchased the store, which became Maloney Brothers. For some period of time he and his brother had a second grocery store on Pleasent Heights. In the mid 1950’s he purchased the World Book and Bible House in downtown East Liverpool, which he operated until his retirement in the early 1970’s. He retired in order to care for his wife, Emma, who died in 1995. He leaves three children, Pamela, Margaret, and William who to his disappointment, did not stay in East Liverpool. Five Grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, from 5 to 8 PM and services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at 10:30 AM.
