I grew up in Shadyside Ohio, went to grade school and high school there. Ed was a police officer in Shadyside at the time.Let’s say I got to know Ed very well. Anyway Ed was a great man and a father to his children. I knew his daughter Michelle. Anyway I have been living in Las Vegas Nevada for 17 years now, and just last night nov. 24th I was preparing my thanksgiving day feast, and for some reason Ed popped into my head after 17 whole years. I thought to myself I wonder how Ed Hammond and his family are doing. I wonder if they are preparing their Thanksgiving dinner as well. The next morning today nov 25th thanksgiving day I was out walking my dog Titus, and called my mother who lives in Shadyside, and she asked me if I rememberd Ed Hammond and I said yes, why do you ask. My mother said that he passed away the other day, I could not believe it because I just thought about him last night after 17 years, anyway I thought that it was strange at first, but then I thought about it, Ed was kinda like a father figure to me when I was younger and wilder. So Ed I love you and will miss you. May you rest in Piece… Lee Donahue

Linda, I send my deepest condolences on your loss. I met Ed during one of my visits from Hawaii when my Dad brought me down to Shadyside. We stopped at the video store where you worked and Ed came in while I was there. Take care of yourself and your remaining family. All my sincere wishes to you during the approaching holiday season.

My prayers are with you and your family. I was a patrolman back in the late 1970’s and worked with Ed. He was a good man and I know he will be missed…

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. “Constable Ed” became “Good Friend Ed” as I grew up. While on the Fire Department, I could always count on assistance from Ed if he was on duty and we needed more hands or just chatting on the ramp while he checked for speeders on the loop. My life is truly a better one because I knew the man.
