SACCO, Edward J., 84, of Wheeling, died Friday June 20, 2003 surrounded by his family and in the compassionate care of the staff at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital.
He was born October 1, 1918 in Wheeling, the son of the late Edward P. and Myrtle Watson Sacco.
Edward was former president and owner of Sacco Brother Truck Service Inc., a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Past National Commander of the 80th Infantry Division Reunion, a member of American Legion Post #1, a former trustee of Wheeling Eagles, the past President of the Mozart Improvement Association, a member of AARP #2481 and a Catholic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Borch, three brothers: Harold P., William F. and James P. Sacco.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary L. Tofel Sacco, two sons: Edward W. Sacco and his wife Barbara of LaGrainge, GA, Thomas R. Sacco of Chesapeake, VA., a daughter Nancy J. Morris and her special friend Mr. Jon Letzkus of Martins Ferry, Ohio, a brother, Donald F. Sacco of Idaho, two sisters: Wilma Koerner and her husband George of Wheeling and Dorothy Koerner of Wheeling, six grandchildren: Brian Sacco and his wife Sally, Brad and Benjamin Sacco, Jennifer, Todd M. and Sarah A. Morris, a great-grandson, Austin Morris.
Friends will be received Sunday 6-8 p.m. and again on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove Chapel, Wheeling, WV., where services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
