WEIGAND, Earl W., 80, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Forest Hills Nursing Home, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Earl was born September 2, 1927 in Wheeling, a son of the late Paul and Mathilda Ecker Weigand. He was retired from Ormet Corp. and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mount Olivet.

In addition, he was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran; member of the American Legion, Post No. 521, Shadyside, Ohio, where he served as finance officer for 26 years; member of the Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28, and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Peace Council No. 12195.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Salvaterra Weigand; and a brother, Wallace Weigand.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Evelyn Bober Calissie Weigand of Wheeling; a daughter, Anne McKeen and her husband, David of St. Clairsville; a step-daughter, Katrina Walters and her husband, Tom of Wheeling; three step-sons, Joseph Calissie and his wife, Vicky of Adena, Ohio, Kevin Calissie and his companion, Kathy of Moundsville and Shawn Calissie and his wife, Jodi of Wheeling; a brother, Allen Weigand and his wife, Joan of Bellaire; three sisters, Jane Wood of New York, Nancy Coyne and her husband, Tim of Bellaire and Corrine Schreyer and her husband, William of Warwood; and seven grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 pm, Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7 pm and
Elks service at 7:30 pm.

The American Legion Post No. 521 will have a service at 9:15 am, Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10 am, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Chris Turner as celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2 Allendale Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
