Dorothy Mae Dot Marshall

Newport News – Dorothy Mae Dot Marshall, 82, passed away peacefully in her home with her husband and children at her side on August 1, 2009. Born inPA, she was the daughter of the late Righter and Ella Mae Betterly. Dot was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for over 50 years. She also volunteered for more than 20 years at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted and faithful servant to her family and friends, whom she loved and cherished very much.

Dot leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, Hale Ted Marshall; her daughter, Barbara Matthews and her husband Terry of NN; two sons, Tim Marshall and his wife Kay of Seaford, and David Marshall and his wife Terri of NN; twelve grandchildren, Starr Fernandes of CA, Kelly Sinkula of CA, Wendy Anthony of Williamsburg, Ethan Daniels of MI, Erica Jordan of NN, Nathan Marshall of CA, Jonathan Matthews of NN, Micah Daniels of Washington, DC, Matthew Marshall who is serving in Afghanistan, Jared Matthews of NN, Logan Daniels of NN, and Sawyer Marshall of Seaford; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, John Park and his wife Jackie of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Betterly.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at
Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Peninsula Rescue Mission. Condolences may be offered to the family at altmeyer.com.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Riverside Hospice for their
exceptional and tender care given to Dot.

Barbara, Terry, Wendy, Nathan, and Jared, May Jesus richly bless and keep you during this time and always. May you find peace and joy in your loving memories of your mother and grandmother. To the entire Marshall family..We will miss Dot so much, but rejoice in knowing she is with her Lord! Larry and I talked of how she took care of our children in the nursery and how much she was loved. God bless you all…Dianne and Larry Puckette
