Dorothy F. Thomas
Age 83

Dorothy F. Thomas, age 83, formerly of Valley Road Salem, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home- North in Salem, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

Born in Hammondsville, Ohio on January 28, 1925, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late John and Blanch Robb Tice, lived most of her life in this area and was a Finisher at the former Sterling China Co. in Wellsville.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, one daughter, Virginia Haddox, and a sister, Violet Weaver, of Chester, W.Va., grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she preceded in death by a son Ronald Thomas Jr., six brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at 11:00 AM with her nephew, Paul Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammondsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Calcutta Chapel on Friday, August 22, 2008, from 6 to 8 PM.

dorothy was a wonderful lady she and a good friend.she was one of my residents i cared for at the nursing home. she was one that i became very close to while caring for her. we shared our lives with her. she gave us advice alot. she was like a mother to me. i was so thankful to have known her.god bless her family.she will be sadly missed.she was kind and loved god she was so very ready to meet her maker.i have no dout that she is not in any pain now .my smpathy to her sister violet she talked about you all the time.she loved you.hope i see her again someday.god bless you.
