Virginia Beach-Dorothy Boyd Davis
went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was the daughter of William and Betty Boyd of Norfolk.
Dorothy was a 1977 graduate of
Booker T. Washington and attended Tidewater Community College.
She was a self-employed title search examiner.
In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memory is her husband, Melvin Davis, of Virginia Beach; daughters Megan Forstner Brian of Virginia Beach; Morgan Gallaher Doug of Virginia Beach; stepson, Clay Davis of Chesapeake; sisters Betty Boyd Hoag Mike of Chesapeake; Billie Boyd Russell Todd of Chesapeake; brothers Stephen Boyd of Chesapeake and Mark Boyd Leah of Zuni; grandchildren Ayden and Adyson Forstner, Charlee and Jaxx Gallaher; and eight nieces and nephews.
Dorothy’s passion in life was spending time with her daughters, Megan and Morgan, and being “Meme” to her beautiful grandchildren, affectionately known as her “Onions”.
The most important thing in her life was her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Dear Boyd Family, Dorothy was my best friend in high school, the catalyst in my meeting my future husband and the maid of honor at our wedding. Though we’d lost touch over the years, I will never forget what a funny, beautiful person she was. The world is a little dimmer without her here.
Dear Davis Family,
Dorothy was very special to our firm and we will miss her very much. Dorothy was more than just a title examiner, I considered her a friend and will always remember how she went that extra mile for us every time we called. She was one of a kind and I am a better person for knowing her.
Dear Mel and family, I am so saddened for the loss of Dorothy, “Dot” “Dot”. She by far was one of the most adorable, loving, funny, cheerful and REAL people I have ever known with a heart made of pure gold. I am better off today for knowing her and I know that she is in Heaven because that is where God brings these very SPECIAL people to become beautiful Angels! Out of all the people I have lost in the past Dorothy’s passing has touched me very deeply. God bless her daughters and her little “onions” – Oh how she lit up talking about her family!! This was a tough one!! I will pray that you will have peace and know that she is looking down and probably wondering what all the “trifflin” hoop-la is about! She is the brightest star in the sky!
Dear Melvin Davis and Family,
Please know that we are deeply sadden to learn of the passing of Dorothy. Her vibrant zeal for life and compassion for her fellowman shall forever remain prevalent in our mind. May the God that we serve grant you “Peace & Comfort” during this challenging period.
Dorothy was a lovely lady . I worked with her in PT and she always had a smile, was so bubbly. She truly did love her family and spoke about you all often. I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for Dorothy and your family
Dorothy was a wonderful, sweet and friendly person to my wife and I. Our Prayers are with you Mel. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask.
Dorothy will be missed by all who knew her. She was respected and loved by a great many folks. Her passion for life and her family were at the highest levels. My thoughts and prayers to the family, Mark
I am deeply saddened to hear of Dorothy’s home-going. We were friends at Booker T. We reunited via Facebook a couple years ago after not seeing each other for 30 years. I loved hearing about her daughters & her “onions”. She rejoiced with me recently when my first grandbaby arrived. Once in high school, we swapped home rooms because we were both Dorothy. : I remember seeing each other afterwards & laughing because we tricked the teachers. May God comfort your hearts & give you peace like only He can. With love & prayers, Dorothy Horton
I am filled with much sadness to learn of Dorothy’s homegoing. Her love for her family and her giving heart stand out to define who she was. I was privileged to be one of her co-workers for many years. She was a team player and encouraged us all with her “readiness at the helm” spirit. She treated each person with fairness, respect and her willingness to go the extra mile. Not only was she knowledgeable and an expert in her field, she never hesitated to lift your spirit in the process. I am better for having known her. My love and prayers to her sweet family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Dorothy in the Virginia Beach record room; she was one of the nicest people I have ever worked with; she never said a bad word about anyone. She was generous, funny and joyful. She will be missed so much. My prayers are with her family. Teresa
I am still in shock over Dorothy’s passing. She was SOMETHING ELSE and so special to many. I remember hearing the cheering stories when I was in the record room. Her e-mail address of “Spirit Mom” is now her true title, because I am quite sure she will be with you, Megan & Morgan, in spirit, cheering you on. All the best in dealing with your loss of your dear Mom.

I miss you my beautiful sister. I know your biggest fear was leaving us but we are all taking care of each other. I will see you in heaven.
I was shocked to hear of Dorothy’s passing. I feel very sad and I still have trouble believing that I will not see her again. Although we lost touch, I have fond memories of her and those “Cheer Mom” days watching our daughters. We would scream! Yell! and Cheer them on. All the ponytails, makeup, bows, practices, competitions, saying nothing about all the traveling we did for 2 minutes and 30 seconds on the floor, we loved it and always had fun. She made it better. I have missed her. She was so proud of Megan and Morgan and was their biggest fan and cheerleader. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.
I’ll always remember the smile and the dynamic person who became one of my best friends! God Bless!
I’m still stunned and saddened from hearing of the passing of Dorothy. I worked with her many years and her smile and cute sense of humor was always a greeting. We had been away from each for a number of years but ran into each other at a seminar a couple of years ago and got to catch up on life, her happiness in her family and proud smile of her grandchildren radiated. I pray for your comfort as she travels on and know that she will always been watching over you. Heartfelt sympathy and may her memories make you smile as bright as her smile was. May God bless your family ~
Mel and family,
