Donald E. “Turp” Radcliffe, 80, of Main Street, Benwood WV, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Wheeling, WV on July 5, 1929, Donald was the son of the late William and Mary Agnes Beecroft Ratcliffe.
He was a retired employee of Mansuetto Roofing, with 33 years of service, and was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood WV. Turp was a member of the Wheeling Eagles Aerie 344, Cave Club, Kain Club, IOLA Club, American Legion Blake Brothers Post 46 and the Benwood Volunteer Fire Department where he was a past fire chief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita “Jeanie” Smith Radcliffe; two brothers, Alfred and Woodrow Ratcliffe; his sister, Betty Wagner.
Surviving are two sisters, Wilma Hixenbaugh and Isabelle Aquaro both of Wheeling; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 6 – 9 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Friday at St. John Catholic Church, Benwood.
Interment will follow in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling WV.
Memoial contributions may be made to the Benwood Volunteer Fire Department.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY IN THE LOSS OF OUR FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR. TURP WAS A GOOD FRIEND AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH HIM.

WE ARE SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. TURP WAS A REAL NICE PERSON. I USED TO WORK AT THE KAIN CLUB AND HE WOULD COME IN SOMETIMES WHEN I WAS WORKING. HE WAS A SWEET AND KIND PERSON WHO EVERYONE LOVED. HE WILL BE MISSED. HE IS IN GOD HANDS NOW. ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM IN YOUR HEART. HE IS WATCHING OVER EVERYONE WHO KNEW HIM. WE WILL MISS HIM DEARLY. JERRY&SHERRY
