The Burke family has always had a special place in my heart. I knew Danny, and grew up with Sean. I remember Bobbi always chasing us out of her room when we pestered her. I remember Danny forgetting to pick me up in his conversion van at the Wheeling Park ice rink, but only because there were so many kids to take home. But he did come back for me just about 30 minutes later. We were like 8 or 9 I think.
My family were somewhat close with theirs as we knew all of them. I knew Tim the least because he was much older, but I knew all the girls. I stayed at their house many many nights, as did my sister. There were always kids there!
I will always remember their mother cleaning and cleaning, probably from all the kids coming in and out. She was a very sweet person and was always kind to me personally. I remember her chasing us out so she could clean. It was the coolest house in Wheeling to play hide-and-seek too.
I’m sorry it took me so long to post this. I sometimes sit on Danny’s bench and think because my father is buried so close. When I’m next in town, I’ll leave flowers for Mrs. and Mr. Burke. I love this family, and I’m sorry for your loss. I called Sean when I heard the news way back. I hope he remembers.
I wish you all well as I know you’ve been thru alot. God bless you all.
