Delores “Dovey” Jean Gardner, 79, formerly of Wheeling, W. Va. and Colerain, Ohio, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Richmond, Va.
Delores was born July 29, 1930, the daughter of the late John and Martha Schuster Springer.
Dovey was a graduate of Warwood High School and retired employee of the former Security National Bank. She was a member of The Brandermill Church of Midlothian, Va. and a former member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Wheeling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Luther “Bud” Gardner of Richmond, Va.; her daughter Karen Fairlamb and husband George of Richmond; her son Greg Gardner and wife Gayla also of Richmond; her grandchildren, Courtney Fairlamb, Gentry Fairlamb, Kelli Gardner, and Chris Gardner and his wife Mary; and her two great grandchildren, Max and Emma Gardner.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 7 – 9 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 10 am with the Reverend Fr. Richard L. Skaggs, officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
A Memorial Service is being planned at a later date in Richmond, Va. to celebrate Dovey’s life with friends and family there.

My sincere condolences to your family. I had the privilege of working with Dovey at Security National Bank in the 70’s. She was such a joy to work with, always kind not only to the customers, but also to fellow employees. May God bless you.
