Age 79

Della G. VanDyke 79, formerly of State Route 45, Wellsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Oakdale, Pennsylvania following a lengthy illness.

She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on September 14, 1922, the daughter of the late William and Iva Missouri Kyle Baker.

Her husband, Virgil E. VanDyke, whom she married December 20, 1938, died September 12, 1984.

She is survived by 2 sons, William VanDyke and his wife, Carol, with whom she resided, and Virgil VanDyke of Wellsville, Ohio; a daughter, Bertha Gallaher and her husband, Charles of Greenville, Mississippi;
3 sisters, Emma Wolfe of East Liverpool, Ohio, Lillian Hanlon of East Liverpool, Ohio and June Adkins of Rogers, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Brandy Gallaher-Smith, Charlie Gallaher, Carter Lee VanDyke, Diane Decker, Kathleen Messenger, William E. VanDyke II, Della G. VanDyke and Mark C. VanDyke;
14 great-grandchildren, Robert Smith, Carter L. VanDyke, Jr., Wendy VanDyke, Lyndsey VanDyke, William E. VanDyke III, Amy J. Byers, Michael F. Byers, Christopher A. VanDyke, Daniel Decker, Jason VanDyke, Jonathan Messenger, Sarah VanDyke, Grace VanDyke and Kaitlyn Domkey; one great-great-grandson, Robert Frank.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William Baker and Paul Baker and 2 sisters, Dee Baker and Vi Brewer.

Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, June 28, 2002 at 2:30 PM with Rev. Charles Parry of East Liverpool City Hospital, officiating.

Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Wellsville two hours before the funeral on Friday, June 28, 2002 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.
