David R. Roberts
David R. Roberts, 81, formerly of Adler Street, East Liverpool, Ohio died on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Fox Crest in Chester, WV after a lengthy illness. He was born in West Point, Ohio on April 26, 1923 to the late David H and Lova Clark Roberts.
Mr. Roberts spent his entire life in this area working as a Security Guard for Allied Security at Quaker State before his retirment in 1985. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II and is a former member of the Chester American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. McLaughlin Roberts whom he married on August 16, 1980; three sons: David Roberts of Jackson Center, PA, Edward Roberts and his wife Paula of East Liverpool, OH and Michael Roberts of East Liverpool, OH; four daughters: Jeanne DeAngelo and her husband Ralph of Midland, PA, Helen Harris of East Liverpool, OH, Linda Merrit and her husband Richard of Jackson Center, PA and Darlene Patterson of N.C. Also surviving are three step daughters: Patty Congo and her husband Mark of East Liverpool, OH, Tammy Blackwell and her husband Dennis of Irondale, OH, Kathy Buzzard and her husband Glenn of East Liverpool, OH and Paula McCoy of Salem, OH; two son-in-laws: Harland Harris of East Liverpool, OH and Ray Stockman of Lisbon, OH; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Ileen Sheffler Roberts, one brother, Eugene Roberts, three sisters: Irene Smith, Betty Durst and Bernice Roberts as well as a step son: Scott Lotz and one grandaughter and one great grandaughter.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Larry Paxson of Faith Chapel Fellowship in Salem, Ohio officiating. The Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 two hours prior to the service.
Burial will follow in United Presbyterian Cemetery in Calcutta.
