Dale L. Mercer Sr
Dale L. Mercer Sr., 79, formerly of Ambrose Ave. East Liverpool, died at the Blossom Health and Rehab Center in Salem on Thursday, November 21, 2002 after an extended illness.
He was born in Newell, W.Va. on May 5, 1923, the son of the late Charles and Kate Waddell Mercer, Mr. Mercer had been employed for 30 years as a Truck Driver for the Cook Motor Freight which was formerly the YELP Freight in East Liverpool, Ohio, retiring in 1978. He was also a veteran serving with the U.S. Army during W.W. II.
Mr. Mercer was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Mae Smith Mercer, in 1999; they were married in June of 1947.
Survivors in include one son, Dale L. Mercer Jr. of East Liverpool, Two daughters, Janet Bragg of East Liverpool and Mrs. Norman Patty Stearns also of East Liverpool. Two brothers, Charles Mercer of Chester, W.Va. and Roy Mercer of New Orleans, La. Two sisters, Eva Heft of Canton, Ohio and Shirley Mercer of New Orleans, La. Three Grandchildren and 4 Great Grand children.
Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, November 25, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Paul Sturm of Rainbow Ministries officiating.
Burial will follow in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell, W.Va.
Family will be present to receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2002, from 11:00 AM until time of services.
