Corey M. Hall

July 24, 1977 - August 6, 2012

07/24/1977 - 08/06/2012

Hall, Corey Mackenzie, 35, of Moundsville, WV, passed away August 6, 2012.
He was born on July 24, 1977, the loving son of Dennis M. and Mona Hunter Hall of Moundsville; brother of Russ Tawnya Hall of Glen Dale; uncle of Mackenzie Hall; grandson of Rosemary Hunter of McMechen and the late Carl Hunter; grandson of the late Charles V. Hall and Catherine Louise Hall; the late B.J. Hall, Bangles, Gemini and Prime Time Hall. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Corey was an employee of Teletech, but his passions were bowling, the Buffalo Sabres, the Oakland Raiders, softball, music and his Xbox. He had a great love for all animals, especially his cat, Cambria, his constant and faithful companion at home.
In this day and age, it is hard to find a genuine person. Corey was this person. He was a true free spirit, who lived by the following and would want others to do the same: “Life is about being yourself. Someone only you can be. Someone only you can understand. Someone that is unlike everyone else. Someone that doesn’t copy others to look the same. Someone who is extremely unique. Because you are you. Be original, be creative, be yourself.”
Family and friends will be received at a casual dress memorial gathering from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville.
A casual dress Memorial Service and Celebration of Corey’s Life will be held from 2-4 pm Monday, August 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon to be held at the Moundsville VFD from 5-8 pm
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Corey’s memory to the Marshall County Animal Shelter, 37 Animal Shelter Drive, Moundsville, WV 26041.

Corey, you will be missed. I first met Corey in 1999 while playing softball and I have many fond memories of playing outfield next to Corey our first year in the league when times were tough and we never won. We played together until I moved away but he was always the same person when I had to chance to come home and hang out with the guys. He always made you laugh and he took pride in being part of our team. The last time I saw Corey was in the championship of last year’s softball league as I tore my hamstring and Corey was the guy who ran from the dugout to help me off the field. He was a teammate and a friend. The one word that summed up Corey in my mind was passion. I was shocked to hear the news and I wish the best to his family and friends and simply say if there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to ask. Miss ya buddy!

I am truly saddened to have heard of Corey’s loss.I used to work with him at Hills/Ames,in the Toy Dept.He made my work day/night a lot better and we worked well together.I can not count the amount of times that we would work side by side putting toys away or just plain goofing off.I had not seen him for years but I never fogot him, especially whenever I would think of my times at work.He was the only one there that liked to see pictures of my cat Tigger, when I first got him 11 1/2 yrs. ago.So, sorry for things ended up for him,his family and friends. He was a good person and always treated me well.

I’m so sorry for this tragic loss of your son and Russ’s only brother. Our sympathy goes out to you and your’s. Even though I didn’t see Corey often, I will never forget his laugh and his antics. All I can say is I will never forget “Walmart in Columbus” and I know Corey is belly laughing about it right now.

My husband & I worked with Corey at Hill’s Department in Benwood! He always had a good sense of humor! I will never forget when I was trying to ask Jeff out for a date! When Corey came out to the snack bar and saw me hand Mark Sambucco a note to give to Jeff! It had my number on it! Mark ran like hell upstairs to catch up to Jeff! Then, Corey yelled there he goes the Pony Express! He made us laugh! He always talked about sports. Especially, he knew Jeff & I like the Pittsburgh Penguins! He will be terribly missed! Jeff & I just saw him at Walmart a few weeks ago he looked great! RIP Corey! Make sure you cheer on the Sabres! May Gob Bless all of you during this difficult time!

Love & Prayers,

R.I.P. #32.

Corey played on my softball team for 13 years from 1999 to 2011 and we also worked at Hills Department Store together. I have nothing but good memories of him and can’t ever even having a disagreement with him. I know he loved to play softball, he gave everything he had every game, and was truly a “team player” who was always willing to sit if need be to keep others happy. He would always tell me that all he wanted to do was see our team win, whatever he had to do to help. We got along so good because we both shared that same attitude. He was such a good guy who I know would do anything to help his friends. My prayers continue to be with his family.
