Clarence Eugene Gene CARPENTER

CARPENTER, Clarence Eugene Gene, 82 of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1920 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Linn Carpenter.
He retired from Boury, Inc. after 37 years; a Navy veteran, serving with the 59th Seabees, in the South Pacific during World War II; a member of Carpenter’s Local #3; and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove, Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Schneider Carpenter; two brothers, Robert and Ralph Carpenter.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Carpenter of Baltimore, MD, and Scott E. Carpenter and his wife, Christina, of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Kitty Carpenter of Wheeling; a good friend, Andy Tenley of Wheeling; two grandchildren, Christian Michael and Daniel Joseph Carpenter, both of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St, Elm Grove, Wheeling.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove, Wheeling. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
