SZELIGO, Chester J., 87 of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1920 in Benwood, WV, a son of the late Frank and Mary Prezkop Szeligo.
He was the former owner of Schaeffer’s Bakery, Wheeling, a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Wheeling, and an Army veteran of WWII receiving the Purple Heart Medal.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tater Szeligo, one brother, John Szeligo.
Surviving is three children, Susan Williams, Richard Szeligo and his wife Diane, David Szeligo and his wife Linda all of Wheeling; one brother, Walter Szeligo of Akron, OH; three sisters, Rose Purpura of Benwood, WV; Mary Ann Rzepka of Newton Falls, OH; Dorothy Mathys of McMechen, WV; grandchildren, Ricky and Brett Szeligo of Wheeling; Courtney Stiles and her husband Brian of Pittsburgh, PA; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 in the Bishops Chapel in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
