CHARLES R. “WHITEY” McINTIRE, 62, of Shadyside, OH, died Monday, October 17, 2011 in Wheeling Hospital due to complications from a mining accident.

He was born November 14, 1948 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Raymond and Lora Hupp McIntire.

Whitey was an employee of Consol Coal, Shoemaker Mine, was a member and past commander of the Powhatan American Legion Post 228, VFW Post 5565, Legion Riders, UMWA and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Surviving are 3 children; Gene Anna Blythe and her husband John of Wooster, OH, Morgan Groah and her husband Derrick of Medina, OH, Cody McIntire of Martins Ferry, his companion and dearest friend, Rose Weltz, 3 sisters; Bernice Eickleberry and her husband Dave of Core, WV, Nancy Reed and her husband Roger of Wintersville, Julia Briggs of Pineyfork, OH, and 8 grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 21 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and Saturday, October 22 from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm with Pastor Joel Traylor oficiating in the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Ave., Shadyside.

Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery with full military graveside services with the Powhatan Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gifts for Yanks, Post 228, Powhatan Point, OH.

Morgan & Cody & Families, We are very sorry to hear about your dad. We just found out last nite about the accident. We have some good memories of lots of times in Utah when you all were little.
