Charles Joseph Griffith, 84, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Triadelphia, WV, son of the late James P. and Mary S. Ebbert Griffith.
He was retired from Blaw-Knox Foundry, 1981; an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany; a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society; and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Carroll Council 504, Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina C. Storch Griffith, Jan 11, 2003; two brothers, James P. and John E. Griffith; and a sister, Mary Margaret Griffith.
Surviving are three brothers, Vincent A. Griffith and his wife, Dorothy, of Wheeling, George G. Griffith and his wife Rita, of Weirton, WV, Thomas A. Griffith and his wife, Mary Ellen of Wheeling; a sister, Lorettann McQuay of Wheeling.
He was loved by 23 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received from 6-8 Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling, where vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. followed by Rosary devotions at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday by the Holy Name Society.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling with the Rev. James Sobus as celebrant. Interment in Our Lady of Seven Dolars Cemetery, Triadelphia.
