COLEMAN, Charles Grant, 85,
of Wheeling Island, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Peterson Hospital.
Born in Wheeling WV on December 28, 1919, Charles was the son of the late Charles B. and Eugenia Geimer Coleman. A former member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and a current member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, Mr. Coleman was a retired employee of Boury Inc. and a Army veteran of WWII.
He was a charter member and served on the Board of Directors of the Wheeling Island Lions Club, a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #83 and a member of the Pride of the Valley Barbershop Chorus.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Reed, his brothers, Theodore R. Coleman and Frank K. Coleman and his sister, Betty Jane Ranney.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Helen I. Harrison Coleman; two daughters, Crystal Jennings and Carlyn Smith both of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Charles Reed and his wife Melanie of Bellaire OH, Kurt Reed and his wife Kimberly of Colrain OH, and Bridget Jennings Hoyng and her husband Robert of New Carlisle OH ; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling on Monday, April 4, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon Tuesday
at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling. Interment in Mt Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at altmeyer.com.
