Charles Gassaway

Charles "Dick" Gassaway, 80 of Moundsville, WV died Saturday in Wheeling Hospital. He was a retired employee with the former Stone & Thomas Store; a member of the Moundsville Baptist Church; a Marine veteran of WW II; American Legion, Earl Francis Post #3; VFW Post 437; and a member of the Moundsville Honor Guard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce L. Schuphach; two brothers, Albert and Joseph Gassaway. Surviving are his wife Gertrude "Ruth" Parsons Gassaway; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Donna R. Iams; a sister, Grace Newlon; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Friends recieved 3-5 and 7-9 pm Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 1 pm. Interement in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV with the Moundsville Honor Guard conducting a graveside service.
