FRIEBERTSHAUSER, Charles Emil, 82, formerly of Warwood, Wheeling, WV, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in Parkland Health and Rehabilitation Center, Stuart, FL. His parents, Marie Schramm Friebertshauser and Emil A. Friebertshauser; and brother, Harold, all of whom resided in Warwood, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nell Jean Heermans of Parkersburg, WV, four devoted daughters, JoAnn and her husband, Richard Shelly of Rockville, MD, Susan and her husband, John Thurston of North Palm Beach, FL, Sally Lou Flint of Stuart, Jan Emily and her husband, Bruce Sheridan of Scottsdale, AZ, loved and missed by his 13 grandchildren and great-grandson.
Charles attended Warwood High School and graduated from West Virginia University in the spring of 1941, with a business degree, he married his fellow WVU graduate, Nell Jean Heermans in December of 1941; he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity: West Virginia University Marching Band Pride of West Virginia, Fi Batar
Cappar Social ; the University tennis team; and the R.O.T.C. Program. Charles served his country during World War II, as a staff sergeant in the United States Army in Australia/New Guinea from 1942-1945; upon his discharge, he returned to Wheeling to join the Friebertshauser Beauty and Barber Supply business, 1043 Market St., established in 1913, by his grandfather, August Friebertshauser Sr., Charles remained there until his 1982 retirement. Charles was active in the Wheeling Kiwanis Club; the Wheeling Country Club; a faithful elder of Warwood Evangelical , Lutheran Church and Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wheeling. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 am, July 5, 2002 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, 905 National Road, Wheeling. Following interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, a reception will be held.
