Charles Edward "Chuck" Edwards, 88, of East 12th St., Wheeling, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, in Wheeling Hospital, after a brief illness. Chuck was born Nov.16, 1914, in Wheeling, a son of the late William and Mary Apel Edwards. He retired from Ohio County School Systems, with 40 years of service, was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, the American Legion Post #1, Wheeling, the WV Association of Retired School Employees and was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 59th AFA Battalion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Albert, and Andrew Edwards; and a sister, Esther Sine. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Alberta Gregorcic Edwards; a son, William Edwards and his wife, Anne, of Wrightstown, NJ; three daughters, Mary Thomas and her husband, Joe, of Wheeling, Janet Lofton and her
husband, Art, of Columbus, Ohio, and Jeanette Bedillion and her husband, Jay, of Houston, PA; a brother, Garfield Edwards of Wheeling; seven grandsons: Jay Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeff Thomas of Columbus, OH, Michael and Scott Edwards of Wrightstown, NJ, and Jason, Justin, and Jared Bedillion of Houston, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the McCoy-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 44-15th St, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm Friday evening. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Cathedral, with the Rev. Larry Dorsch as celebrant. Interment in Peninsula Cemetery, Wheeling.
