Porter, Charles E. Jr., 74, of McMechen, WV died Thursday, May 13, 2004 in the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born May 30, 1929 in Wheeling a son of the late Charles E. and Marie A. Shultz Porter, Sr. He was a retired employee of the Swisher International Company, Wheeling with 41 years of service; a Methodist by faith; and a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Brooke County Farmers and Sportsman Assoc.; the Marshall County Hunting and Fishing Club; the American Trap Shooters Assoc. and a life member of the NRA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta Rienke and Betty Jarrett. Surviving are his wife Esther M. Bishop Porter; three sons, Robert A. Porter and his wife Linda of Great Falls, Montana, Charles E. Porter and his wife Janet of Benwood and Edward E. Porter and his wife Nanette of Bridgeport, Ohio; three daughters, Sue Lynn Petticord and her husband Sidney of Bethlehem, Regina M. Campbell and her husband, Gregory of Moundsville and Deborah L. Jarrett and her husband Kevin of Moundsville; a brother, James T. Porter and his wife Judy of Wheeling; two sisters, Beverly Prager and her husband Glenn of Wheeling and Wanda DeTemple and her husband Jack of Moundsville; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements by the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen.
