Cecil ”Sonny” Thrasher, Jr.

Cecil ”Sonny” Thrasher, Jr, 65, of Hibbetts Mill Road, Wellsville, died at his residence on February 2, 2002 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Wellsville, OH on December 18, 1936, a son of the late Cecil Thrasher and Mary Pearl McCrea Thrasher.

Mr. Thrasher was a lifelong are resident. For the past 10 years, he was a bus driver for the Southern Local School District, retiring in 1996. He spent all his free time with his family and talking on the CB where he was known as ”Nighthawk”.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Bidwell Thrasher, whom he married September 13, 1968; three sons: Cecil D. Thrasher, Scott Thrasher and Richard E. Thrasher all of Wellsville; three daughters: Mrs. John Robin Lockhart of Wellsville, Mrs. Woodrow Lisa Thomson of East Liverpool and Tina Springer of Wellsville; one brother: Duane Thrasher of Wellsville; three sisters: Janet O’Neil of Florida, Joan Arnold of Toronto, OH and Mary Alice Baker of Guilford Lake; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home on Monday, February 4, 2002 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family where burial will take place in Spring Hill Cemetery.
