Lewis, Carolyn Ann Lander, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6th, 2013, with her family by her side, in Lansing, Michigan.

Carolyn was a proud member of the first graduating class of Bishop Donahue High School. As an active alumnus and former member of the Board of Directors, Carolyn’s commitment to the school’s legacy was evident not only by her time spent organizing events, but also by her having established an academic scholarship for current B.D.H.S. students.

Carolyn was a Certified Insurance Counselor and worked in the insurance industry her entire life until her retirement in 2011. She was very active in the church and had the pleasure of teaching religious education to hundreds of children in numerous dioceses throughout the Midwest. Carolyn was also an avid football fan who was always supportive of the Detroit Lions, University of Michigan and WVU.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Chuck Lewis; two children Scott Lewis and Sheryl Pilaczywski; and three grandchildren Samuel, Sophie and Maddie, two brothers, Alan Lander and John “Ted” Lander.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, WV, where Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen.

Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Chuck, Todd and Sherri- So sorry for your loss. Carolyn was a great influence on me and my career.
