Carol Yvonne Johnson

Virginia Beach – Carol, was the last of eleven children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Horatio James of Antiqua West Indies. She started school early for she was very bright. After junior high, she graduated from high school in Antigua West Indies. In April, 1968, she married Stanford Johnson, from that union two lovely girls, Trina and Dawn were born. Carol was a telephone operator for several years. Upon leaving there, she worked for UFT, and retired after 35 years. Carol and her husband moved to Virginia Beach about 10 years ago, where she bought a home. She and her husband really loved living here.

Carol loved to crochet. Anyone who was ever expecting a child, she would make sure they had a beautiful coverlet and pillow. She also made lap ghans for the people residing in nursing homes. She was a true Christian, who was a prayer warrior. She was also forever helping friends and neighbors any way she could.

We all love and miss her, but our Lord and Savior loved her more, so he took her out of her pain and suffering.

Carol is predeceased by her husband, Standford; daughter, Trina; sisters, Lorraine, Dolly, Shirley, Brenda; brothers, Rudy and George; niece, Leslie.
She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Dawn; sisters, Theresa Bermuda, Ruth Virginia Beach; brother, Robert New York; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

Service will be held at Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11am with a viewing one hour prior. Burial will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I am Candy’s cousin and have spent time with Carol on the phone and in person over the years. We shared our problems and joys and one of the things I’ll always remember about her is her great belief in our Lord, Jesus Chist. She’ll be missed by many.

There are never the right words to say when we lose someone close to our heart, nor how to describe what we feel. The only comfort we can have is knowing that they are with our Lord watching over us. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love Always…OG
