Carl Leon “Sonny” Christian

Virginia Beach- Carl Leon Christian, Jr., 82, passed away surrounded by his loving family April 26, 2015. He was born to Carl Leon Christian, Sr. and Melissa Belvin Christian in Norfolk, VA, November 29, 1932. He was a lifelong member, as well as a deacon for St. John’s Baptist Church, a past President of Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Fire Dept., and past member of the Creeds Ruritan Club. He retired from the City of Virginia Beach as a Plumbing Inspector Supervisor.

He leaves to cherish his wife of 56 years, Judith Christian; his daughters, Kimberly Garnes, husband Tim, Pamela Fitterling, husband Tim and Catherine Hostman, husband Tim; his grandchildren, Seth, Amber, Brittany, Zachary, Spencer and Hunter; one great- granddaughter, Arya; his sisters, Shirley Dennis and Carroll Carroll; as well as many nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Elizabeth Sams and Dorothy Miller.

A memorial service will be held in Sonny’s honor Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Johns Baptist Church, 2300 Holland Road, VB, VA.
