Carl G. Verba, 76, of Wheeling, died Thursday, August 23, 2001, in the Wheeling Hospital.
He was born January 24, 1925, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Carl and Barbara Vondrosvich Verba.
He was a retired machinist at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.; and Army veteran and a P.O.W. of World War II.
He was a member of the Bridgeport Eagles; Lansing Sportsman’s Club and the V.F.W.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Majorie Verba in 1996; and a brother, Joseph Verba.
Surviving are three daughters, Gail Bamberger of Bridgeport, Becky Tullius of Wheeling and Sally Nolan of Wheeling; a son, Glenn Verba of Wheeling; two sisters, Julia Tottka and Anna Beegle, both of Bellaire; a brother, Bobby Verba of Bellaire; and 11 grandchildren.
Friends will be received from noon-3 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where services will be held at 11am Monday. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
