Beverly B. Torok

Virginia Beach- Beverly Bond Torok, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all, who had a heart of gold left us too soon on May 13, 2010 surrounded by family and close friends.

This spirited child of F. Pierce and Sunshine Mildred S. Bond was born September 30, 1939 and raised in the shadows of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the city of seven hills, Lynchburg, VA. After graduating from E.C. Glass H.S., she continued her education at Lynchburg College. With degree in hand, she started her career in physical and health education.

Beginning her adventures in what would become a 40+ year teaching career in Florida and Charlottesville, VA, she found what would be her destination and her home in Virginia Beach. Beginning at First Colonial, Bayside and Kellam High Schools, she was embraced by students and staff eventually retiring in 2004. Bev/Mom cherished her quality time with family, friends and with her out-going and effervescent personality, was a social butterfly and always the life of the party.

She met ex-husband Ted Torok in the 1960

Bev you were the best teacher anyone could have had. You were my favoriteBayside 72 and my daughter’s Kellam 97 favorite. There were SO many fun times to remember during school years and long since school. I always enjoyed running into you and Johnny.I know you are in a better place, but those that loved you hated to see you leave. You will always be in our hearts.

Johnny you will be okay and so will Brooke and Teddy. She made you strong people.

Bye Bev, hugs Debbie

I am so sorry about your loss. Bev was my Health, PE, and Driver’s Ed teacher at Kelllam in 1983…

Years after I would do eye exams on her at Dr. Breedlove’s office. I trained her how to wear contacts… she was so funny and we always laughed so hard… I loved her free spirit…

She will be missed!

I have the pleasure of being in Ms Torok’s Health/PE class in 1998. She was one of the few teachers that was an absolute delight to learn from. God bless.

I was a student of Mrs. Torok’s Health and PE class during the 1981/1982 school year at Kellam High School.

Our class was assigned to write a paper on someone who inspired us. I wrote about my dad who unexpectantly went to heaven the summer of 1981. It was also my first year of high school. Mrs. Torok wrote the following statement: You will always treasure the memories you have of your father. Those kind words meant the world to me.

The second incident was when I was on the track team I wasn’t a very fast runner. Mrs. Torok believed in my abilities and awarded me the Certificate of Appreciation for my efforts on the team.

Your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Your mom/grandmother/friend will be cherished for bringing love and laughter into the lives of so many.

To Brooke, Teddy and Johnny,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Bev, when we were growing up, was so vivacious and funny. She could, and would, make anyone laugh at just about anything. Those days are gone, her body is no longer with us, but her vivacious spirit and that wonderful room-filling laugh will be around for a long, long time.

If there is anything Bill and I can do to help any of you, please do not hesitate to call on us. Our number is 434 384-0896

Love to you all

To Brooke,Teddy,Bev’s family & friends: I will always remember her fantastic personality, her spontaneous laughs and caring ways. Everytime I would come and visit, wherever we would go, everyone knew her by name. Her students would work in the funhouse and as we went through, everyone would be yelling HI MRS. TOROK. What a great legacy she has left behind. I will miss her calls, her jokes, her laughter, and her wonderful spirit.I love her so much and life has definately been richer for having known her. She was a great & one of a kind cousin!!
