Betty Jean Mick
Age 76
Betty Jean Mick, 76 of Glasgow Road, Lisbon, Ohio died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at East Liverpool Convalescent Center #2 in East Liverpool, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Wellsville, Ohio on October 15, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Jean French McLain.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Mick worked as a clerk in various Wellsville area stores. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1942 and was a member of Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deaconess. She was Paster Master of Yellow Creek Grange, Membership Director for State Grange in 5 counties, President of American Legion Post 736 Auxillary and Ladies Auxillary of Wellsvile Volunteer Fire Department.
She leaves her husband, Lawrence F. Mick at home, whom she married May 24, 1944; three sons, Larry W. Mick and his wife Ellen of Fullerton, California, John R. Mick and his wife Lisa of Wellsville, Ohio and William R. Mick and his wife Luann of Poland, Ohio; a daughter, Linda Jean Welch and her husband, Joseph of Lisbon, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Christy Welch of East Liverpool, Ohio, Annie Mick, a student at Ohio University, Ashley Jackson of Wellsville, Ohio, Jake Welch of Lisbon, Ohio, Mackenzie Mick of Poland, Ohio, Marcus Mick of Wellsville, Ohio and Sydnie Mick of Poland, Ohio; one great-grandson, Justin Tate of East Liverpool, Ohio.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas McLain and Ralph McLain.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin-MacLean-Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ron Bown of the church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Wellsville on Friday, March 9, 2001 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM.
