JOSEPH, Betty Juanita Ritchie, 83, of Wheeling, WV, died peacefully Friday morning in Peterson Hospital, with her family at her side.
Betty was born April 29, 1925 in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Cain Ritchie.
She attended Wheeling High School and was employed at the pajama factory in McMechen.
She was a homemaker, loved to play Bingo and was a convert and member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Maronite Rite, Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George J. “Scratchie” Joseph on June 11, 1996, two brothers, Charles “Bud” Ritchie and Harry “Bull” Ritchie, three sisters, Kathryn DePriest, Helen Myer and Virginia Hickman.
Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Rebecca and Larry Ferrera Jr. of Benwood, WV; one son, George J. Joseph Jr. and Barbara of Sarasota Fl; her grandchildren, Melissa Ferrera of Benwood, Larry III and Andee Ferrera of Benwood, Anthony and Deanna Ferrera of Lima, OH; Dan Ferrera of Wheeling, George J. Joseph III of Hershey, PA; Philip Joseph of Orlando, FL; her great grandchildren, Danielle, Lorenzo and Lucca Ferrera of Benwood, Grace and Mia Ferrera of Lima; her sister in law, Agatha Ritchie of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 26 from 12-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 in Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 2216 Eoff Street, Wheeling, with Rev. Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Our Lady of Lebanon Church Building Fund.
