Bartholomew Buddy M. Purpura

PURPURA, Bartholomew M. Buddy, 81, of Eoff Street, Benwood, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling. He was a retired employee of Jebbis’s Market, Wheeling, an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matteo and Rosina Blova Purpura; three brothers, James, Frank and Joseph Purpura; two sisters, Mamie Purpura and Rosemary Gray. Surviving are his wife, Rose J. Szeligo Purpura; four daughters, Rosemary Purpura of Benwood, Patricia A. Purpura of Benwood, Christine L. Krulick and her husband, Daniel of West Palm Beach, FL and Janet M. Simons and her husband, Michael of Valley Grove, WV; two sons, Joseph M. Purpura and his wife, Cathy of Proctor, WV and James F. Purpura and his wife, Natalie of Blairstown, N.J.; a sister, Lena Purpura of Wheeling; five grandchildren, Frank C. Purpura of Hurricane, WV, Chad J. Purpura of Benwood, WV, Michael Anthony Simons of Valley Grove, WV, Kaylee R. Purpura of Proctor, WV and Joshua J. Krulick of West Palm Beach, Fl; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2002 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Most Rev. Bishop Bernard W. Schmitt, D.D. as celebrant. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling Foundation, Inc., 137 Mt.
