Audrey J. Clough

Virginia Beach – Audrey J. Clough passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, surrounded by her three loving daughters, in Virginia Beach, VA.

She was born to Nicholas and Rose Pacak in Catskill, NY.

Audrey attended Oneonta College and graduated with a B.A. in Education. After teaching in New York, her adventurous spirit took her, and her dog, to Norfolk, VA, where she taught for five years. She married and relocated to Massachusetts, continuing her passion for teaching.

In 1986, she decided to venture back to Virginia Beach and continue her teaching career. She taught at Monroe and P.B Young Elementary Schools in Norfolk, VA, and last year took on a Literacy Teacher position.

Audrey loved dogs, dancing, traveling, shopping, the beach, meeting new people, spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, and expanding young minds, especially through reading.

Audrey is survived by many loving family and friends, including her daughter Kimberly Ann and son-in-law Ted Morse; her daughter Kellie Katherine and her family Mark Doyle and Annabelle; her daughter Karen Suzanne and son-in-law Brian Eskridge; her grandchildren Evan, Alex, and Kaylin; her former husband Douglas Clough; and her dog Nicholas.

Funeral services will be held 11.00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church followed by the burial service. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach, VA.

She will be deeply missed by all, but most of all by her three adoring daughters whose lives she filled with so much love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to the Norfolk or Virginia Beach SPCA or animal shelters.

Dear Kim, Kellie and Karen,

We are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was great. She was my first cousin which my Mom continually reminded me of. “Audrey’s your first cousin you know”. She called my parents so often just to talk, to get them to talk. I will always love her for that. That’s the other really neat thing. I don’t remember who started it, me or her. After we were done talking we would say “I love you”. How many first cousins do that. You and her are always in our prayers. Love, Cousin Kenny

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved mother and my dear friend. She was a great friend and I will treasure the memory of the many good times we shared in and out of the school environment. We connected well with our common sense of humor. Kim, Kellie, and Karen, you are a source of her pride. Be strong, make your mom proud, and know that you are thought of and prayed for by so many of us at this difficult time.

God bless you.

Karen,Kim, and Kellie,

I was out of town during the funeral and viewing and am very sorry to hear of your loss. Remember the good times with Audrey- I know you had plenty. Audrey was so joyful-we shared our love of dogs and of meeting new people. If you can, please let me know if she had become ill. I had sent her a Christmas card last year-but did not hear back. I truly loved Audrey and know she is in heaven.

Kim, Kellie and Karen,

The pain of the loss of your Mother will never go away. It may take a year or longer before the sharp pain dulls a bit. A day will not go by when you think of her and the love and memories of her will still bring a tear or two to your eyes. You will never stop missing her. It may take a awhile before you lose the urge to pick up the phone and call to see what she’s up to. But the bond, memories and love you shared will never be broken.

Every time I saw Aunt Audrey, she always had a smile on her face and her love for dog’s always put a smile on my face and warmed my heart.
