Ann J. Casey Kerns, 83, of Jones Street, Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Kettering Medical Center, Kettering, Ohio.
She was born May 30, 1920 in Smith’s Ferry, PA., the daughter of the late Maurice T. and Mary R. Quinn Casey.
She was a retired postmaster from Valley Grove Post Office, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling.
She was a charter member of Valley Grove Lioness Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darsie H. Kerns, in 1976; three sons, Robert L., Paul R. and Teddy J. Kerns; a brother, D. James Casey; two sisters, Mary Hawk and Margaret Carrigan.
Surviving are her children, Timothy J. Kerns and his wife, Denise of Kingwood, WV., Beth Withrow of Beavercreek, Ohio, Paulette Young and her husband, Thomas, of Warwick, R.I.; two sisters, Rita Mastrovich of Midland, PA., and Loretta Longo of Meadville, PA.; a brother, Joseph C. Casey of Ohio; two grandchildren, Candace B. Pyle and her husband, Brent, of Miamisburg, Ohio, Scott P. Withrow and his wife, Katy of Selma, Ala.; three great-grandchildren Liam Brent Pyle, Austin Quinn Pyle and Parker Chase Withrow; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Pual Catholic Church. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Grade School, 127 Key Ave., Wheeling, WV 26003.

Dear Paulette & Tom and Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We always talked how your Mom was like the Energizer Bunny, now she’s marching in a much better place. We love you guys!
